Happy Birthday Tommy Boy!

Our little Tommy turned 4 last Saturday. He had a great time playing with cousins and eating cake and ice cream. He is always such a sweet boy. He is very loving, kind and patient with little Sam. They are learning to play together a lot these days, which is perfect because the older kids will be at school soon. I'm glad they have eachother. Children naturally like to be around other kids. I've decided to have Tommy be home full time. Last year Mary tried out the free public preschool here, and liked it for a while, but then asked to be home with me, so I took her out. I think Tommy is just too young to do preschool. In fact, I'm not even sure I'll put him in kindergarten next year. We'll have to wait and see if he's ready. He'll turn 5 a few days before the cut-off date (8/1). I hope all is well with everyone. I'm still plugging along. Still trying to get caught up from the weekend!!! Love ya'll

Saturday!

Greetings and salutations... It has been a long day and a long week too. When's the last time I posted? Ummm... lets see, what has happened? Well, last week I ordered a new grain mill and a compact kitchen mixer. I was so excited to make homemade bread and stuff, but the mixer didn't work very well when I tried to make bread dough in it, so I boxed it up and returned it. I was going to buy a better one, but on Friday Jared's truck broke down and it costed $1039 dollars to fix it. So now I don't get to buy my mixer. I already gave away my old one, so now I guess I'll just have to "make do" for a while. Poohy!
So I'm kind of depressed over the unexpected expenses, but hey life happens to us all. I'll just have to sell some stuff and save up.

Today was a pretty good day. Jared had to go and pick up a desk from the salvation army this morning and deliver it to his Mother's apartment, then take her grocery shopping, and then go to buy a new/used lawn mower for $60 (great deal! It's self propelled!), so I got bored waiting for him to come home. I went to yard sales, and it was about 12:30pm when I did. This turned out to be the perfect time to go! I got a small table to go between Jr. and Ikers beds for $5! and I got 3 sets of sheets complete with pillow cases for 50 cents a piece. I also got 3 pairs of roller blades for $2 ea. and a winter coat for Mary for $1 also some lincoln logs for $1. It was totally cool. I bargained down on the price of everything because they were all tired of sitting in the hot sun and ready to pack up and call it a day.

Then we all went to the library together when Jared came home. After that I set up a craft center for the kids downstairs. I hung a shelf on the wall (with Jared's help) to put all our craft supplies on, and I set up a long table for their projects. This will really help with boredom blues. I hope everyone else is having a great weekend!

The stuff of childhood

We had a good week, as you can see by these photos...
I got some stuff in the mail that was packed with those styrofoam packing peanuts, and Tommy and Sam really had some fun with it. They had those things scattered from heck to breakfast in no time at all. Isn't that what childhood is all about though? After they were all done playing I gave them each a dustpan and they did clean up a few scoops of them. It was worth the clean up time just to see them having such fun.

I finally got over the flu, thank you very much. Now Tommy is sick with it. I suppose it will travel through the whole family, you know how it goes. I hope the baby doesn't get it. I have to brag on my husband for a minute. He let me go to church today and he stayed home with Tommy and Sam (since Tommy was up all night throwing up and Sam had a runny nose). While I was at church, he took the steam cleaner and did the carpet by Tommy's bed, which was soiled pretty bad from his flu bug. Then he did the dishes!!! Wow! So when I got home, I fed him and let him take a nap, and when he woke up, it was my turn to take a nap! So Jared woke me up and he had made a great dinner for us!!! Complete with even dessert! What a great man I am married to! I love him so much. He even saved Sam's life when he started choking on some meat during dinner! lol I didn't have to lift a finger. I had a great day, Thanks honey!
I also have to tell you a funny story of what happened last night. We had a neighborhood block party hosted by the folks across the street from us. The whole neighborhood came and we were all outside sitting on our lawn chairs and just chatting. Just about everyone had a bottle of beer in their hands, except Jared and I had our soda cans. So just when the party is getting started, the missionaries from our area drove up! They got out of their car and started walking over, and man, the whole place went silent. Everyone's mouths were gaping open! They all must have thought we invited the missionaries to the party to try and convert the neighborhood! haha Jared is the ward mission leader, so they stop by all the time to talk about stuff that is going on. So Jared went over to them and took them into our house. When they left, everyone looked a little more at ease. Nobody, I mean NOBODY asked anything about them, so I know that no one around here is interested in hearing anything about our church. haha It was SUCH a funny moment though. I hope you all had a good week! Love you a ton PEOPLE! byeeeeee now

Suzy had a baby boy!

Last night at 11:52pm Suzy had her baby boy! He was 7 lbs 11oz and 20 1/2 in long! He has a lot of black hair. They named him Jackson Richard. I am sick with the flu, so I've been miserable this whole day and haven't wanted to go share my germs with them, so I didn't get to see him yet. I will post a picture as soon as I get over to see him.

Happy Independence Day Everyone!

I'm so proud to be an American. I love my country. God bless the USA! This truly is a choice land above all others. I'm so glad to be born and raised here in the land of opportunity. Especially because it means that I can teach my children the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We had a very bad weekend! I'm not one to be gloomy, but everything seems like it's gone south this weekend. We tried to barbeque some steaks on Friday, and they were horrible and tough. Then we went to see the fireworks and the kids were really unmanageable and they all got cold, plus they had to go potty when there was no bathroom available! haha Then on Saturday Jared was trying to go get a haircut and they were closed, and then he tried to take Jr. and Isaac to see kung-foo panda and when they got all the way to the theatre Jr. decided he didn't want to go afterall. So Isaac was sorely disappointed. Then we got a babysitter and went out to see a movie last night and it turned out to be full of sick, tawdry filth, and we had to walk out of there after only the first 15 minutes of the show. We actually should have walked out after about 2 minutes, but we just kept waiting for it to get better, and it got worse and worse. Good news is, we got our 16 bucks back and went to baskin robins for a treat with it. Then today I cooked dinner and it was so bad! The rolls (the kids helped way too much when I was putting them together) were like biscuits and the corn cobs were tough and just all around gross stuff. I was so disappointed. When I take the time to make rolls (about 3 hour process) I really look forward to eating them, and they were just gross this time. I AM SO NEGATIVE! Oh well. I know things are gonna look better tomorrow when I can kick Jared out the door to work and get back to my routine. Well, here's some moments of cuteness I observed this weekend. Hope you are all doing better than me today! G'bye!

I keep on quilting!

I was so excited to finish the baby quilt Dad and Lu sent to me. I remembered just how much fun it was to sew and quilt, so I kept on going and made two quilts for Mary, and one for little Isabella (Susie's smallest sweet girl). One was for Mary's bed, and the other one for the couch when she is watching T.V. or if it is cold in the van, she can take it out there also. I am not finished yet, I think I will start making some new aprons for Mary and me, and some summer shorts for Mary. I'm having a lot of fun with it.
Here's Mary with her new bed quilt. She still won't give up her ratty old ballerina blanket though! So she has both.

Here's Mary with her new lap quilt. It has Ariel the little mermaid on it. Her favorite colors are pink and purple (you know it!) and now she has one pink and one purple quilt! Happiness!

Here is little Isabella with her "froggy" quilt. It was an immediate hit. When I saw her a couple weeks ago, she had a receiving blanket around her shoulders. She just LOVES blankies of any size and shape, so I knew I had to make her a special one. She is adorable. She calls me "Aunt Joo-jee", and she has been so excited to see my baby. What a sweetie. I love her so much.

Howdy Folks!

Hey family & friends! I just keep on posting every day! It's just an exciting time in my life right now. I always love to welcome a new little life into our family, into our life. It's such a joy and a miracle every time. I feel so richly blessed of the Lord. When people comment on the size of our family (which I recognize as being quite a spectacle for these days we live in) I just say "my cup runneth over" and I really mean it! I feel so fulfilled as a human being. I love every minute of my life right now. I get up in the morning and (you guys are going to think this is so wierd!) I just can't wait to do my chores! I love the feeling of seeing a shiny clean kitchen sink, and I love giving my sweet baby a sponge bath and making him smell good with the baby lotion. I love it when Mary gets into the van after another day of summer school and hugs me so tight it hurts!
Anyways, here are some random pictures of the last few days. This one below is a sign Jared bought the day Rusty was born. Isn't it cute? We announced it to the world that we had a sweet baby boy! I took it down yesterday and hung it above the crib.

Jared's Mom Sandy came over on Sunday to see the baby. Here is a little picture of them together. Jared took the baby and sat on the couch and they both fell asleep. It was so cute to see Jared's Mom just sit and watch them sleeping. She just wanted to soak it all in, two generations of Jones boys sawing logs.
Here is a full body shot of little R.J. He found his fingers and went to town sucking on them. Well, whatever works! right? He's such a cute little fella'. I think he looks the most like Jr. so far. He is sleeping about 3 hours at a time at night, which is good I guess. I really don't mind waking up and stuff, because hey, I've been doing this for about 8 years now. I don't even remember how it feels to get a whole night of sleep without being awakened by somebody. The creepiest is when you are dead asleep and you wake up to find one of your kids just standing beside the bed staring at you. It's freaky! Freaks me out every time. Where is this post going? I don't know. But uh.. so ... here's just a ... well, goodbye for now, and ya'll take good care now, and just , (yahn...) come 'on back and see us real soon, ya hear? bye bye
